M-16 vs M-1917 Enfield
The M-16 is the major service rifle of the United States Armed Forces. The M-1917 Enfield was the major service rifle during World War I. The two weapons are extremely different and are great examples of the advancements in weaponry over the last century. The M-16 is lighter than the M-1917 Enfield although it is larger and has a 30 round magazine as opposed to the six rounds the Enfield holds. The two have similar accuracy ranges, however in close combat that can be faced in trench raids or urban warfare the semi-automatic/full-automatic action of the M-16 allow the soldier to engage more targets in less time as opposed to the bolt action of the Enfield. Both also can be fitted with a bayonet for close quarters combat, but because of the larger magazine and automatic action soldiers using the M-16 usually do not have to use a bayonet.
Mills Bomb vs M-32
The M-32 is just one of the many forms of grenade launchers that the United States Armed Forces use. The Mills Bomb was the main grenade used in World War I. The two weapons differ almost completely. The M-32 however, holds six 40 millimeter grenades that can only be fired from a grenade launcher. The M-32 gives the advantage of longer range and more grenades launched per minute compared to the Mills Bomb that required the soldier to remain exposed for a long period of time to get the maximum range firing the grenade from their rifle.
M-240 vs BAR
The M-240 is one of the main machine guns used by the United States Armed Forces. The BAR was one of the major machine guns carried by soldiers in World War I. The advantage the M-240 has is it is a belt fed machine gun and has a higher rate of fire. The BAR on the other hand has a 20 round magazine and fires at a rate of 550 rounds per minute compared to the 950 rounds per minute possible from the M-240. The M-240 is also adaptable to be mounted atop and armored vehicle or a tank where as the BAR is not.
MQ-9 vs JN-4D
The MQ-9 is the main unmanned aircraft used by the United States Air Force. The JN-4D was one of the main aircraft used during World War I. The major difference between the two is the MQ-9 is unmanned allowing the pilot to sit in safety as opposed to the JN-4D and other manned aircraft where the pilot is in the line of fire. The MQ-9 also has a greater maximum speed than the JN-4D allowing it to get out of the line of fire faster. The advantage of the JN-4D is it is capable of air to air combat as opposed to the MQ-9 that can only engage ground targets. The MQ-9 however, more efficient at engaging ground targets using high explosives such as bombs and missiles as opposed to the machine gun of the JN-4D.
